Well, one more con in the bag!
Bubonicon 44 – Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention wrapped up on Sunday. And from what I could tell, it was another fun/successful show. I was there on Saturday from about noon till 5PM (or so). Admittedly, we hadn’t really planned to do another con for a while (till we finished our next book), but since we still have some inventory leftover from ACE earlier this year, and we had the opportunity to put them on display at the 7000 BC booth… it was sort of a ‘no-brainer’. And I’m glad we did.

It was great to spend some more time with fellow creators, and ‘talk shop’, I had a blast talking to everyone, and had some really engaging/enlightening conversations with a few people that were at and around the booth.

I’m curious to see what the total sales were for the weekend, and see how we did, but the experience and camaraderie were well worth the price of admission.

A special thanks to John Sumrow for a great conversation about marketing and how to make money drawing pictures. And also to Peter Zoimek for talking to me about ‘selling’ at cons, and making comics!! It’s always a treat to talk comics w/ Peter! Also, (I’m kicking myself for forgetting his name - I really am terrible w/ names), but I had a really great talk w/ a gentleman (who also made it out to my Cintiq demo) about publishing / printing in the new digital, direct to plate, print-on-demand era. If I forgot anyone else, I apologize, rest assured, I had a blast talking to all of you!
I’m really enjoying being on the ‘other side’ of the table… talking about OUR/My work… and sharing parts of this little, big, epic that’s been fermenting in our brains for the last 20ish years! It’s oozing its way out… and I just hope the ‘unsuspecting masses’ are ready for it. I must say, it’s a little addicting, as I already can’t wait for the next con we do… (but I still have some work to do before we’re ready for it).

I’ve been back at the drawing table (after about a week off recovering from a minor surgery), and I’m back at it with resolve and focus.
It’s on folks.
